Day 34: Weights & First Meal Outside

Puppies eating outside - for most of them, this is their first visit to the outside world. 

Puppies loved eating outside - didn't even notice the drizzle of rain. 

Mealtime is a silent affair. 

Everybody's out now - and Reuben is already finished. We carry them up the stairs and put them in the ex-pen, which is actually 2 ex-pens put together to make one big one. Vader (green) loves his food so much he'll climb over other puppies to get to it (see bowl on near right).

Puppies jostle around and reorganize themselves to get the moistened kibble. Not much remains when they are finished!

Reuben is one BIG puppy.

Weights (Day 34):

Reuben (Brown Boy): 11 lbs 7 oz

Lucy (Red Girl): 9 lbs 0 oz

Padme (Purple Girl): 9 lbs 1 oz

Vader (Green Boy): 10 lbs 5 oz

Strider (Blue Boy): 10 lbs 6 oz

Evey (Yellow Girl): 9 lbs 15 oz

Thorin (Orange Boy): 10 lbs 2 oz

Arwen (Pink Girl): 9 lbs 12 oz

Hermione (Brown Girl): 9 lbs 0 oz

Puppies are being fed 3 meals of "Taste of the Wild" puppy food, moistened with half-strength formula. They eat a little more than 1/2 a cup @ each feeding, and we are doing some supplementing with dry kibble left in their pen. When in their new homes, they will need to eat @ least 3 times a day for the first few months. Beginning Monday, we will be feeding in the morning, after work, and before bed (aiming for about an 8 hour gap between each feeding). All puppies have been wormed (bi-weekly and will be wormed 3x before they go to their new homes) and have had their nails clipped (weekly - increasingly difficult as they get bigger).
